2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser Axle Shaft Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the rear axle shaft assembly on 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable before extracting the rear wheel for proceeding with the removal operation. Pronounce the brake fluid drain operation while washing off all fluid which touches painted areas. First utilize Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to disconnect the brake tube before removing the clip and flexible hose and thereafter the 2 bolts and 2 washers which secure the caliper assembly. The next step involves minifying the parking brake shoe return tension spring and parking brake shoe strut and parking brake shoe. The parking brake cable needs to be separated by removing two bolts which secure it to the parking brake plate. Take out the rear speed sensor after finishing the previous steps. You can remove the rear axle shaft by first removing its 4 nuts and then its rear axle shaft with parking brake plate before taking out the O-ring system and using Special Service Tool: 09308-00010 to extract the rear axle shaft oil seal.
