  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel pressure regulator on 2008 Toyota Corolla?
A: The service operation for the fuel pressure regulator begins when you disconnect the negative battery cable before removing the rear seat cushion which requires removal of all four screws that secure the rear floor service hole cover. Start by disconnecting the fuel pump connector and complete the fuel system pressure discharge using the battery negative terminal followed by starting the engine until it stops before turning off the ignition. Make sure the engine stays muted by cranking again before you remove the fuel tank cap to drain remaining pressure after disconnecting the battery negative terminal. Disassembly of the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly starts with disconnecting the fuel tank main tube while ensuring the joints remain free of contaminants. Special Service Tools 09808-14020, 09808-01410, 09808-01420, 09808-01430 should be used to loosen the fuel pump gauge retainer before removing it while securely holding the fuel suction tube for removal of the fuel suction tube from the fuel tank. Pay attention to maintaining the fuel sender gauge arm's position to avoid bending during the process. Remove the gasket from the fuel tank before disconnecting the fuel sender gauge connector to access the fuel filter and slide the fuel sender gauge out of the filter. extract the E-ring from the components before releasing the claws to slide out the fuel pump filter and then extract both the fuel suction plate and spring. After separating the two fuel pump harness connectors users can remove the No. 1 fuel suction support by pushing its 2 claws and releasing its 5 claws to safely extract the fuel pump filter. To finish pull the fuel pressure regulator out of the fuel filter while you remove both O-rings from the fuel pressure regulator then extract the fuel pump from the fuel filter after taking off its O-ring.
