2007 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel pressure regulator on 2007 Toyota Corolla?
A: Starting the fuel pressure regulator servicing process requires first removing the battery negative terminal then disassembling the rear seat cushion assembly and rear floor service hole cover by detaching their 4 screws. The first step involves disconnecting the fuel pump connector before draining fuel system pressure occurs through negative battery terminal connection until the engine starts and turning off the power after shutdown. Check for any remaining pressure from the fuel tank by cranking the engine and afterward removing the fuel tank cap. Remove the battery negative terminal for a second time. Remove the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly by fitting each connection through disconnecting the fuel tank main tube, sealing off dirt entry into the joint and disconnecting the fuel tank vent hose properly before contamination. Apply Special Service Tool 09808-14020 (09808-01410, 09808-01420, 09808-01430) to unfasten the fuel pump gauge retainer, then remove it by maintaining control of the fuel suction tube. Begin by disconnecting the fuel suction tube with its gasket and then proceed to remove the fuel sender gauge assembly after disconnecting its connector before pulling it out. Extract the fuel suction plate sub-assembly by slipping off the E-ring followed by releasing the claws to take out the fuel pump filter together with the suction plate. Lift the two fuel pump harness connectors after that unfasten the No. 1 fuel suction support and remove the fuel pump filter with a tape-covered screwdriver to protect the components. When installing new O-rings for the fuel pump and pressure regulator position soaked rings using gasoline or spindle oil but ensure all O-rings remain without damages or mechanical impediments. Use the claws to fix the fuel pump filter along with the No. 1 fuel suction support then join the fuel pump harness connectors. The fuel suction plate sub-assembly needs reinstalling while maintaining component security then a new gasket goes on the fuel tank pre-setting the fuel suction tube. Use the Special Service Tool to secure the fuel pump gauge retainer while aligning its components correctly before you complete the fuel tank vent hose and main tube connections tightly. To complete the procedure the battery negative terminal must be reconnected followed by fuel leak checks using the fuel pump connector installed before putting back the rear floor service hole cover and rear seat cushion assembly.
