2007 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel injector on 2007 Toyota Corolla?
A: A suitable service of the fuel injector begins with fuel system pressure discharge followed by negative battery terminal disconnection. To access the No. 2 cylinder head cover remove the 2 clips followed by 2 nuts. Connectors leading to the ventilation hose need to be removed from the cylinder head cover. The procedure for the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly requires disconnecting 4 fuel injector connectors (A), removing the 3 wire harness clamps from their respective clamp brackets (B) and finally removing the fuel pipe clamp No. 1 (C). The fuel tube connector must be opened by pinching its retainer to extract it (E) while taking care to prevent dirt from entering the connector (D). Separate the 3 bolts on the fuel delivery pipe while carefully removing delivery pipe with its attached fuel injectors (F) until the removal of 2 delivery pipe spacers (G) and 4 insulators (H) from the cylinder head. Pull out the four fuel injectors from the fuel delivery pipe during removal steps. Before installing a new O-ring users need to apply gasoline or spindle oil to the fuel injector and delivery pipe and then position the O-ring subsequently applying the oil to the pipe. When attaching the fuel injectors to the delivery pipe it is crucial to check for O-ring damage before rotating them smoothly while replacing the O-ring when needed. Place 4 new insulators in the cylinder head (A) and the 2 delivery pipe No. 1 spacers (B) with proper orientation. Install the fuel delivery pipe with its 4 fuel injectors yet tighten the 3 bolts at (C) while avoiding injector drop. Tighten the three injector bolts with values of Bolt A 19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) and Bolt B 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) while ensuring the injectors rotate correctly (D). The fuel tube assembly process requires aligning the connector tubing end with the pipe followed by a push until it clicks while inspecting both for damage and foreign matter along the way. Follow up the procedure by installing fuel pipe clamp No. 1 (G) alongside 3 wire harness clamps (H) and 4 fuel injector connectors (I). The ventilation hose requires reattachment to the cylinder head cover while paying attention to the clamp positioning. Tighten the battery negative terminal to 5.4 N.m while inspecting for leaks then secure No. 2 cylinder head cover with 2 nuts and 2 clips by torquing to 7.0 N.m.
