2006 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injector on 2006 Toyota Corolla?
A: The first step to replace a fuel injector requires you to discharge pressure from the fuel system and disconnect the negative battery terminal. The removal of cylinder head cover number two requires the removal of both clips and two nuts. The ventilation hose needs to be disconnected from the cylinder head cover location. The procedure starts by disconnecting 4 fuel injector connectors then removing the 3 wire harness clamps attached to clamp brackets after which you remove fuel pipe clamp No. 1 to disconnect the fuel tube. You should pinch the fuel tube connector retainer to remove it with caution while making sure there is no presence of foreign objects or dirt and no part scratches. Use caution when extracting the 3 bolts then remove the fuel delivery pipe with its fuel injectors while protecting the injectors from dropping. Disconnect both delivery pipe spacers along with 4 insulators that are on the cylinder head. To assemble the fuel injector unit evaluate four fuel injectors from the fuel delivery pipe before lubricating new O-rings along with fuel delivery pipe contact points using gasoline or spindle oil. Reinstall the fuel injectors by checking for O-ring integrity and inspecting injector smooth rotation. Mount 4 new insulators into the cylinder head after which the 2 delivery pipe No. 1 spacers must be correctly oriented. Mount the fuel delivery pipe together with its 4 fuel injectors then make a preliminary bolt torque of 19 Nm (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) for bolt A and 9.0 Nm (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) for bolt B while inspecting smooth injector rotation. The user must align the connector end with the pipe before pushing it inside until the connection takes place without foreign objects or surface scratches present. At this point reinstall fuel pipe clamp No. 1 together with 3 wire harness clamps before you reconnect the 4 fuel injector connectors. Install the ventilation hose No. 1 onto the cylinder head cover while securing the clamp at the correct alignment then reconnect the negative battery terminal with a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). The last step consists of inspecting for fuel leakage before installing cylinder head cover No. 2 with 2 nuts and 2 clips that need tightening to a torque of 7.0 Nm (70 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf).
