2005 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injector on 2005 Toyota Corolla?
A: The first step for fuel injector replacement consists of discharging system pressure then disconnecting the battery negative terminal. Completely remove the cylinder head cover No. 2 by detaching its 2 clips and 2 nuts. You should disconnect the ventilation hose connecting to the cylinder head cover. The procedure to remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly requires users to disconnect the 4 fuel injector connectors followed by a removal of the 3 wire harness clamps from clamp brackets and finally to disconnect fuel tube clamp Number 1 before separating the fuel tube. Pinch the retainer on the fuel tube connector and gently remove it but check that no dirt or foreign objects exist on the connector because part scratching should be avoided. A vinyl bag must be used to shield the disconnected part. The release of stuck fuel tube connector and pipe can be accomplished through a pull and push motion. Carefully remove the 3 bolts which allow you to extract the fuel delivery pipe combined with fuel injectors and be mindful not to let them drop. Afterward remove both delivery pipe spacers and four insulators installed on the cylinder head. A thin layer of gasoline or spindle oil should be applied to the new O-ring before it is installed onto each fuel injector as well as to the fuel delivery pipe and a second O-ring before installing the injectors onto the pipe. Check the O-ring remains uncracked and the injector rotates without resistance before replacing the O-ring if it fails this test. Position four brand-new insulators inside the cylinder head and the two delivery pipe No. 1 spacers with proper orientation in place. Secure the delivery pipe containing 4 fuel injectors using the 3 bolts while verifying that all injectors turn without resistance. Secure each bolt using the required torque of 19 Nm (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) for bolt A while bolt B requires 9.0 Nm (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Attach the fuel tube by linking its connector to the pipe using gentle force until it snaps into place while checking for scratches or foreign material interference. The procedure to check connection security involves pulling the fuel tube connector before installing fuel pipe clamp No. 1 and three wire harness clamps and four fuel injector connectors. For ventilation hose No. 1 attach it to the cylinder head cover in a proper angle position after clamping securely. Reattach the battery negative terminal with 5.4 Nm torque while checking for fuel leaks before securing cylinder head cover No. 2 using 2 clips with its 2 nuts tightened to 7.0 Nm.
