2008 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the windshield glass on 2008 Toyota Camry?
A: Diminish the windshield glass by beginning with the negative terminal battery cable disconnect procedure. Begin with removing the front wiper arm along with its blade assembly on both sides. Next follow with removal of front fender to cowl side seals on left and right sides. Finish by removing the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly. The uninstalling process begins with removal of the inner rear view mirror assembly (applied to TMC Made without EC Mirror and TMMK Made without EC Mirror) followed by the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover (w/ EC Mirror) and the front door opening trim Weather Strips LH and RH along with the front pillar garnish LH and RH the roof console box assembly and the visor assemblies LH and RH the visor holder and the front assist grip sub-assembly. A slight reduction of the front roof headlining assembly section (with or without Sliding Roof) will help technicians access the windshield glass for removal. A knife should carefully remove the windshield moulding without harming the vehicle body so the remaining moulding can be removed from the windshield glass. To remove the windshield glass assembly users must tape the installation area protectively and insert a piano wire between inside the body and glass for pulling out adhesive while keeping wooden blocks tied to both wire ends yet being careful to spare vehicle paint and ornaments from damage. You should apply matchmarks on the windshield glass together with the vehicle body before using a suction cup to extract the windshield glass assembly by preserving maximum adhesive on both surfaces. Replace the new windshield using a scraper for removing the adhesive dam which should avoid damages to the glass surface. Use a scraper to remove the current 2 No. 2 windshield glass stoppers while installing new ones along with the 2 retainers. Remove No. 1 stoppers from the 2-piece type before cleaning windshield glass by scraping adhesive tape and residue from its surface with non-residue solvent so that the glass remains untouched. The end of the process involves washing the vehicle body surface after removing rough adhesive while cleaning it with a treated cloth that maintains maximum adhesive coverage.
