- Q: How to install the parking brake cable assembly No. 3 on 2008 Toyota 4Runner?A: The first step for installing parking brake cable assembly No. 3 is to attach it to the parking brake equalizer with a clip followed by fastening four bolts to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) before attaching it to the backing plate using two bolts torqued at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf). Install high-temperature grease before putting on the parking brake shoe and then adding the parking brake shoe strut LH together with the parking brake shoe strut compression spring. Before proceeding to attach the rear disc the technician must install the parking brake shoe return tension spring then inspect the parking brake installation. The rear disc brake caliper assembly LH can now be installed with its 2 bolts torqued to 105 Nm (1071 kgf-cm, 77 ft-lbf). Put the rear wheel in its position while tightening it to 112 Nm (1137 kgf-cm, 82 ft-lbf). Then add the console box assembly rear followed by the No.2 console upper panel garnish and No.1 console upper panel garnish. Install the console panel sub-assembly upper and the console upper rear panel sub-assembly. Examine and correct the parking brake pedal travel if needed as the last step.
