The replacement process for Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 starts by taking away the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly together with air conditioning radiator assembly, air bag sensor assembly center and yawrate sensor and floor shift assembly and parking brake control pedal assembly. Start the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 replacement by disconnecting components including the lock nut followed by the adjusting nut then removing the clip before detaching from the parking brake control pedal assembly. Uninstall three bolts then two nuts from Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 1 before detached lock nut and adjusting nut along with the assembly from the parking brake equalizer. Install the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 by positioning it correctly before temporarily tightening both the adjusting and lock nuts. Connect the two nuts and three bolts on the assembly while applying 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 inch lbs.) torque for the nuts and 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) torque for the bolts. The assembly should be fixed to the parking brake control pedal assembly through the clip, adjusting nut, and lock nut while applying a torque of 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Complete installation by putting together the parking brake control pedal assembly, floor shift assembly, air bag sensor assembly center, yawrate sensor, air conditioning radiator assembly followed by the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly. Verify parking brake pedal movement after assembly before conducting necessary adjustments and checking the SRS light.

The beginning point for parking brake cable assembly removal consists of wheel removal. Follow this step by disconnecting the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH through removal of its two bolts without detaching the flexible hose from the caliper. At this point remove the rear disc followed by disassembly of the parking brake shoe return tension spring together with the parking brake shoe strut compression spring. The team should discard the parking brake shoe strut on the left-hand side and the parking brake shoe assembly next. First disassemble the console upper rear panel sub-assembly and proceed to remove the console panel sub-assembly upper which leads to the removal of both the No. 1 console upper panel garnish and No. 2 console upper panel garnish. The final step in the procedure is to detach Parking Brake Cable Assembly No. 3 by taking out the clips from the parking brake equalizer and all 4 assembly bolts plus the 2 backing plate bolts.

Separate the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH by removing the 2 bolts, ensuring not to disconnect the flexible hose from the caliper.

Remove the 2 bolts from the backing plate, the 4 bolts from the assembly, and the clip from the parking brake equalizer.

Adjust the parking brake shoe clearance.
