2008 Scion xB Clutch Master Cylinder Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the clutch master cylinder assembly on 2008 Scion xB?
A: Begin installing the clutch master cylinder assembly by fixing it with both 13 Nm torque (129 kgf-cm, 9 in-lbf) nuts. Attach the clutch master cylinder to the flexible hose tube by tightening the union nut wrench to 15 Nm (154 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) either with or without the wrench applied. The required torque is 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) with using the wrench. The required torque can be reached through a 300 mm (11.8 in.) torque wrench combined with a 22 mm (0.886 in.) union nut wrench which should be set parallel to the torque wrench. Follow by fitting the clutch reservoir tube into the clutch master cylinder using the clip which must be attached without twisting the tube and with the white mark pointing upward. Before attaching the clevis to the clutch pedal using the pin and clip, apply MP grease on both pin and bush contact surfaces from the right side of the vehicle. After installing the clip to the pin users should proceed with brake booster assembly installation before conducting clutch pedal sub-assembly inspection and adjustment.
