2008 Scion tC Fuel Injector Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the fuel injectors on 2008 Scion tC?
A: One must begin fuel injector removal from the 2AZ-FE engine by performing several procedures starting with pressure discharge of the fuel system followed by removal of the rear seat cushion and rear floor service hole cover. Then disconnect the fuel pump connector while letting the engine idle until it stops then turn off the ignition switch before executing fuel cap removal to release fuel tank pressure. Lastly reconnect the fuel pump connector and reinstall the rear floor service hole cover and rear seat cushion. After restoring the fuel pump connector install the rear floor service hole cover and rear seat cushion. For the next step remove the negative battery cable and then take off the engine cover and air cleaner cap sub-assemblies. To begin disconnect the fuel main tube first remove the fuel pipe clamp before wiping off dirt from the fuel tube connector. Then use Special Service Tool: 09268-21010 to align the retainer inside the fuel tube connector with the chamfered part of the tool. Shove the fuel tube connector into the tool while installing the retainer onto the chamfered part until you hear a clicking sound then you can disconnect the fuel tube and drain remaining fuel. The detached components need protection with a plastic bag. You should disconnect the No.2 ventilation hose across the ventilation valve before removing the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly by removing 2 wire harness clamps and disconnecting 4 fuel injector connectors and pulling out 2 bolts to extract both the fuel delivery pipe and 4 fuel injectors while maintaining caution against letting them drop. To complete the removal process remove first the 2 delivery pipe spacers and then strip away the 4 insulators from the cylinder head before extracting the 4 fuel injectors from the fuel delivery pipe.
