• Q: How to remove the Vacuum Brake Booster on 2008 Scion tC?

  A: Draining brake fluid should be the first step for Vacuum Brake Booster removal while washing off paint-contacted fluid instantly. Proceed to start by untucking the front wiper arm caps then disassemble the front windshield wiper assemblies from both left and right sides. The next step requires removal of the hood to cowl top seal followed by removal of the cowl top ventilator louver on the left side. The work sequence consists of removing the wiper motor and link and proceeding with taking out the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly and No. 1 cowl water extract hose then the lower cowl body mounting bracket from the left side. The technician should now take off the air cleaner cap sub-assembly followed by the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. Once done disconnecting the brake master cylinder push rod clevis proceed to remove the front left wheel. Tech Service Tool: 09023-00101 should be used to disconnect and remove the No. 5 front brake tube. Disassemble the clamps containing three brake tubes before removing the clamp from those tubes. The brake booster assembly removal requires sliding the clip to disconnect the vacuum hose while detaching the clevis from the brake booster through the loosening of its clevis lock nut followed by unthreading four brake booster nuts from their mounts. Remove the check valve together with the grommet from the brake booster then uninstall the brake booster gasket.
