Brake Booster

The first step of Vacuum Brake Booster removal includes draining brake fluid and instantly cleaning all fluid contacts with painted surfaces. The first step requires replacement of the front wiper arm head cap before moving on to delete windshield wiper arm and blade assemblies from left and right side positions. The technician should remove the hood to expose the cowl top seal along with the left-side cowl top ventilator louver. You must remove in sequence the windshield wiper motor, link and outer cowl top panel assembly, No. 1 cowl water extraction hose as well as left lower cowl bracket. The air cleaner cap along with the brake master cylinder needs to be taken off separately. You need to disconnect the brake master cylinder push rod clevis followed by front left wheel removal and continued work to disconnect the No. 5 front brake tube using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101. By removing the clamp from the brake tubes users can disconnect the three brake tubes. The first step to remove the brake booster assembly begins by loosening the clevis lock nut followed by detaching the clevis from the brake booster while sliding the clip to separate the vacuum hose and completing the process by removing the four brake booster retaining nuts. The last step in brake booster removal involves extracting the check valve as well as grommet followed by removal of the brake booster gasket.

The first step for Vacuum Brake Booster removal requires draining brake fluid followed by immediate washing of contaminated paint surfaces with fluid. First detach the front wiper arm head cap from its position after which remove the windshield wiper arm assemblies and blades from both left and right sides of the vehicle. You must remove the hood before taking away the left side cowl top seal and cowl top ventilator louver. Remove the windshield wiper motor and link together with the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly followed by the No. 1 cowl water extract hose. The technician should then remove the left lower cowl body mounting bracket and air cleaner cap sub-assembly and brake master cylinder sub-assembly. After separating the brake push rod clevis from the brake master cylinder disconnect the front left wheel followed by removing Special Service Tool 09023-00101 from the No. 5 front brake tube. Take off the brake tube clamps and unlock the three tubes for subsequent removal of the clamps themselves. The brake booster assembly removal process begins by loosening the clevis lock nut followed by clevis detachment from the brake booster then using a clip to disconnect the vacuum hose and completing the removal by unscrewing four nuts from the brake booster. First remove the check valve as well as the grommet from the brake booster while extracting the brake booster gasket.

Use Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to disconnect and remove it.

Reattach the brake master cylinder push rod clevis, fill the reservoir with brake fluid, bleed the master cylinder using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101, and bleed the brake line.

Torque it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf without the tool) or 14 Nm (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf with the tool).

Fill the reservoir with brake fluid, bleed air from the brake master cylinder and brake line, check and adjust the brake pedal height, free play, reserve distance, and fluid level in the reservoir while checking for any brake fluid leakage.

Attach the grommet and check valve to the brake booster.
