2007 Toyota Yaris Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the axle shaft assembly on 2007 Toyota Yaris?
A: The front drive shaft servicing process starts with disconnecting battery cable access to the negative terminal followed by automatic transaxle and transaxle oil fluid drainage and lastly removing the front wheel components. Use Service Tool: 09930-00010 with a hammer on the staked part of the axle hub nut before removing it with a 30 mm socket wrench. Single out the front speed sensor by removing the bolts then authenticate that the sensor tip stays clean and its original angle position remains unchanged. Use Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to remove the tie rod end sub-assembly and proceed with separating the front stabilizer link assembly. Begin by disconnecting the front lower suspension arm through usage of Special Service Tool: 09628-00011 and continuing with front axle assembly disengagement by striking the drive shaft gently with a plastic hammer. Disassemble the automatic transmission case protector and front drive shaft assemblies LH and RH using Special Service Tools: 09520-01010 and 09520-24010 (09520-32040) for LH side and L and R screwdriver and hammer for RH side without damaging oil seals or inboard joint boots. Use Special Service Tool: 09608-16042 (09608-02021, 09608-02041) to fix the front axle assembly when working to prevent hub bearing damage. The disassembly procedure starts by taking off boot clamps from the inboard joint then splitting the boot open and removing the inboard joint assembly for proper joint labeling. Follow the sequence to install new components applying specified torque recommendations (216 N m for the front axle hub nut/2,203 kgf cm, 160 ft. lbf) together with (103 N m for the front wheel/1,050 kgf cm, 76 ft. lbf). Reconnecting the negative battery terminal should finish the repair process before you begin adding the correct fluid and checking for leakages and wheel alignment.
