2007 Toyota Tacoma Cigarette Lighter Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the cigarette lighter on 2007 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Service of the cigarette lighter begins by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal. The pedal type parking brake requires removal of the instrument panel under tray while the lever type parking brake needs the removal of the instrument panel hole cover. About the separate seat type installation: start by removing the console upper rear panel sub-assembly which works with automatic and manual transmissions and finish by taking off the rear console box assembly. Remove the instrument panel cup holder tray and the front console box as the next step when servicing the cigarette lighter for automatic and manual transmission vehicles with separate and bench seats. The technician should continue by taking out the air conditioning control assembly, radio receiver assembly before disconnecting the hood lock control lever sub-assembly. Next, the workshop should disassemble the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly followed by the lower instrument panel LH and instrument cluster center finish panel sub-assembly and instrument lower cover sub-assembly and No. 1 lower instrument panel finish panel. The first step requires removing the cigarette lighter cover by carefully disengaging the 2 claws. Then continue by taking out the cigarette lighter assembly by removing the knob and element assembly then turning the socket counterclockwise to disengage the claw between the socket and cigarette lighter bezel stay before pushing the socket out towards the room side. Insert and push the cigarette lighter assembly so it fits properly into the cover with its socket aligned to the cigarette lighter bezel stay notch. Afterward install the knob and element assembly. Reinstall the cigarette lighter cover by connecting its 2 claws and then proceed with the instrument lower cover sub-assembly, lower instrument panel LH, instrument cluster center finish panel sub-assembly, instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly, and No. 1 lower instrument panel finish panel. The next assembly step requires installation of hood lock control lever sub-assembly in addition to radio receiver assembly and air conditioning control assembly. Finally, reinstall the front console box for both manual and automatic transmissions on separate and bench seat types, the instrument panel cup holder tray for automatic transmission on separate seat type, the rear console box assembly for separate seat type, the console upper rear panel sub-assembly for both manual and automatic transmissions on separate seat types, the instrument panel hole cover for lever type parking brake, the instrument panel under tray for pedal type parking brake, and reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal, ensuring a torque of 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf).
