2007 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an A/C Condenser in a refrigeration system on 2007 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Discharging the refrigerant is the first step before removing the condenser while also disconnecting the negative terminal cable. Empty the engine coolant from 2TR-FE and 1GR-FE before removing both engine type radiator grille and the radiator support to frame seal LH and both engine type fan shroud. The team should remove the radiator system for each engine type separately. The discharge hose sub-assembly needs to be separated by removing its bolt and seal washer while the openings should be covered with vinyl tape to block moisture and foreign material infiltration. The air conditioning tube assembly disconnect begins through the removal of bolt and seal washer but the process ends with vinyl tape used to seal the openings. The installation and removal process of the cooler condenser assembly begins by removing its 2 bolts then raising the condenser to disengage fittings while using a screwdriver to detach brackets before finally removing the condenser. The installation of a new condenser requires addition of 40 cc (1.4 fl. oz.) compressor oil (RL-897 or equivalent) into the condenser. Installation of the condenser begins by fixing the upper and lower brackets through claw operation followed by condenser lifting from the vehicle's rear and bolt tightening to 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). The air conditioning tube assembly must be installed by removing the vinyl tape then adding compressor oil to the new seal washer before securing the bolt with 7.5 N.m force (76 kgf.cm torque or 66 in.lbf torque). The installation of the discharge hose sub-assembly requires the application of compressor oil to a new seal washer which should be bolted with a torque setting of 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). Both engine types require the reinstallation of the radiator assembly while both engine types need the fan shroud along with the radiator support to frame seal LH and the radiator grille. Reconnect the negative battery terminal cable with a 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) torque before adding engine coolant for both the 2TR-FE and 1GR-FE engine types and inspect for any leakage. Charging of refrigerant along with engine heater activation should be followed by inspection for refrigerant leaks.
