2007 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2007 Toyota Sienna?
A: Service and maintenance of the vacuum brake booster begins with front wheel removal and fluid drainage along with surface washing off fluid that touches paint. After breaking connection to the negative terminal begin removing the front door scuff plate LH as well as the cowl side trim board LH that requires unfastening the cowl trim board plate LH bolt. The next step is removing the instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly lower LH using its 2 bolts. Proceed by removing the instrument panel safety pad insert No. 1 sub-assembly using 4 bolts which needs to be followed by removing the cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front, air cleaner assembly with hose and brake actuator assembly (w/o VSC) utilizing Special Service Tool 09023-00101. The brake lines can be detached after using front brake tube numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well as rear brake tubes No. 1 and 2 after removing the ABS & traction actuator assembly (w/ VSC). To detach the brake master cylinder assembly push out the tone pin of the brake booster push rod and disconnect the brake master cylinder reservoir hose and vacuum hose using a clip. Then separate the assembly by removing 4 brake booster with master cylinder nuts and clevis. The brake booster gasket must be removed together with the brake vacuum check valve assembly and its accompanying check valve grommet from the brake booster assembly. Begin your installation process by first mounting the brake vacuum check valve assembly to which you should add the check valve grommet. Then install the new brake booster gasket. Secure the brake master cylinder assembly with 4 nuts that need torque at 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) then restore both brake master cylinder reservoir hose and vacuum hose connection. The procedure requires installation of the push rod pin and brake lines followed by front brake tube torques to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) and rear brake tube torques to the same value. The brake actuator assembly (w/o VSC) then the ABS & traction actuator assembly (w/ VSC) along with the air cleaner assembly with hose must be reinstalled through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 and the brake fluid must be poured into the reservoir. Drain the brake master cylinder together with the brake lines and the brake actuator (w/ VSC) before checking the reservoir fluid level and inspecting for brake fluid leakage. The final step involves reinstallation of instrument panel safety pad insert sub-assembly No. 1 with 4 bolts together with the instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly lower LH secured with 2 bolts. Then install the cowl side trim board LH using the nut followed by the front door scuff plate LH. Complete the sequence by installing the cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front and the front wheel using torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Lastly, inspect brake pedal height and check the brake actuator through an intelligent tester.
