2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Fuel Level Sensor Assembly on 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The first steps for servicing the Fuel Level Sensor Assembly require draining the fuel system pressure followed by disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal. Actions start with removal of the front door scuff plate LH and continue with rear door scuff plate LH and rear seat cushion assembly LH and finish with rear floor service hole cover. The service begins by disconnecting the fuel tank to filler pipe hose followed by the fuel tank breather tube subassembly with removal of the No. 1 fuel tank protector subassembly. The subsequent step requires fuel tank main tube and fuel tank return tube and fuel tank vent hose disconnection before removing the fuel tank assembly. The technician must disconnect the fuel level sensor connector before unlocking the fuel level sensor and pushing it out of place. Install the fuel level sensor by fitting it onto the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube and connect the fuel level sensor connector. You should first install the fuel suction with pump and gauge tube assembly and afterwards install the fuel tank main tube and fuel tank return tube before ending the installation with the fuel tank assembly. Gas vent hose installations should be combined with fuel tank main tube and fuel tank return tube installations along with the installation of fuel tank breather tube subassembly and the fuel tank to filler pipe hose. The installation sequence includes placing the rear floor service hole cover in addition to the No. 1 fuel tank protector subassembly, rear seat cushion assembly LH, rear door scuff plate LH, and front door scuff plate LH. Complete the process by connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal with a torque of 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) and inspect for any fuel leakage.
