2007 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the front wiper motor on 2007 Toyota Corolla?
A: A service and repair of the front wiper motor begins with removing the windshield wiper arm cover before removing the front wiper arm and blade assembly on the right-hand side by stopping the motor at its automatic stop position then taking out the nut. The same step should also be followed for the assembly of the left side. The next step involves taking off the hood to cowl top seal through eight clip disconnections with a clip remover tool. Start the cowl top ventilator louver removal process by unclipping each louver together with using a tool to disengage the five claws on both sides. Disconnect the plug and remove two bolts to extract the windshield wiper motor combined with link assembly while sliding it to the rider side and clearing the plastic holder. The windshield wiper motor assembly requires a screwdriver to free the rod at the crank arm pivot followed by using a torx socket wrench to remove its two torx bolts. The installation process requires MP grease on the crank arm pivot followed by bolt installation of the wiper motor assembly at 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). Next, temporarily fasten the wiper motor and link assembly through the engagement of the pin before tightening the 2 bolts to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) while reattaching the connector. Proceed with reinstalling the left and right cowl top ventilator louvers along with the hood to cowl top seal followed by the left and right front wiper arm and blade assemblies by cleaning their serrations before torquing the nuts to 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) when the arm hinge is held down. Use water or washer fluid to test wiper operation while checking for both functional performance and avoidance of body interference before replacing the windshield wiper arm cover.
