• Q: How to replace the windshield wiper motor assembly on 2006 Toyota Corolla?

  A: Start by taking off the windshield wiper arm cover then use automatic stop mode to disconnect the FR wiper arm & blade assembly RH and its nut. Finish the assembly replacement by pulling off the FR wiper arm & blade assembly LH from its nut position. Take off the FR wiper arm & blade assembly from the left side by unthreading its nut. A clip remover helps remove eight clips for the hood to cowl top seal and pulls it off. Unclip and detach the 5 claws to take out the right cowl top ventilator louver before doing the same to the left unit. Pull out the windshield wiper motor & link assembly by disconnecting its connector and taking away the 2 bolts to move it to the passenger side. Disconnect the rubber pin at its final location. To detach the windshield wiper motor assembly first use a screwdriver to free its 2 pivoting rods at the clank arm then unscrew the 2 torx bolts (T30) with a torx socket wrench. Put MP grease on the clank arm pivot before you insert its 2 bolts and set the torque at 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf). Place the new windshield wiper parts one at a time until the pin clicks in place. Fasten the assembly with bolt 1 and bolt 2 at 5.5 N.m torque before reconnecting the electrical wire. Fasten the FR wiper arm & blade assembly LH with its nut by first scraping the serration area with a round file and cleaning the wiper pivot serration using a wire brush before torquing it at 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) while holding the arm hinge. Repeat cleaning on the FR wiper assembly RH then install its nut and tighten it to 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) using arm hinge holding pressure. Test the rear wiper performance by running water through the window as you activate it to verify proper wiping action and prevent the wiper from contacting the vehicle frame.
