2007 Toyota Corolla Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2007 Toyota Corolla?
A: The procedure for servicing and repairing the throttle body requires the following steps: first remove the battery negative terminal and drain the engine coolant. Use a screwdriver to eliminate the 2 nuts while removing the 2 clips from cylinder head cover Number 2. Begin service on the air cleaner cap by disconnecting the mass air flow meter connector marked as [A], VSV connector noted as [B] and wire harness clamps labeled as [C]. Then remove the fuel vapor feed hoses numbered No. 1 [D] and No. 3 [E] from the VSV and detach ventilation hose No. 1 from the cylinder head cover. Begin with unscrewing the hose clamp bolt and air cleaner hose No. 1 before extracting the entire air cleaner cap together with the hose. You must disconnect the throttle control motor connector along with the water by-pass hose [B] and water by-pass hose No. C as the first step in throttle body assembly removal. Use this order to remove the two bolts and two nuts before taking off the throttle body while removing its gasket from the intake manifold. Install the throttle body first by placing a new gasket on the intake manifold and then attaching the throttle body along with its 2 bolts and 2 nuts before final tightening to 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Finally, apply the water by-pass hoses No. 2 [C] and [D] to the throttle body followed by the throttle control motor connector. Then attach the air cleaner cap with proper fitting of its air cleaner hose and tighten the hose clamp bolt before connecting the air cleaner hose with a final torque of 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf). Following step one, connect the VSV to fuel vapor feed hose No. 3 and No. 1 before adding the 2 wire harness clamps (F) and connecting VSV (G) and mass air flow meter (H). Reinstall the battery negative terminal and torque it to 5.4 N.m before adding engine coolant then checking for leaks. The process ends with the installation of cylinder head cover No. 2 secured by 2 nuts and 2 clips at a torque of 7.0 N.m.
