2007 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to properly remove and install an A/C Condenser on 2007 Toyota Camry?
A: The removal process of condenser HVAC begins with refrigerant recovery from the refrigeration system followed by V-bank cover sub-assembly removal for 2GR-FE and cool air intake duct seal removal for 2GR-FE. Following this, there must be removal of air cleaner cap sub-assembly for 2AZ-FE, air cleaner cap sub-assembly for 2GR-FE, air cleaner inlet assembly for 2AZ-FE, air cleaner inlet sub-assembly for 2GR-FE, and No. 1 air cleaner inlet for 2GR-FE. The front bumper assembly (optionally with fog lights included) along with radiator support upper and hood lock support sub-assembly can be removed when all necessary bolts are removed. Remove the bolt on the air conditioner tube and accessory and disconnect its assembly from the condenser before removing the O-ring from the tube assembly and using vinyl tape to block openings and prevent moisture and foreign matter intrusion. Disconnect the refrigerant discharge pipe of the cooler by removing the bolt to separate it from the condenser followed by removing the O-ring before sealing the openings with vinyl tape. In order to get to the cooler condenser assembly and then the cooler dryer you must remove four bolts. A 14 mm straight hexagon wrench together with pliers will help you finish the job. Pliers will help you install the cooler dryer while you apply enough compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to both O-ring and cap fitting surfaces. After oiling the surfaces with straight hexagon wrench and torque at 2.9 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 26 in.lbf), install the cap to the cooler condenser core. The four bolts need installation onto the cooler condenser assembly which must be torqued to 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf). Also add 40cc (1.4 fl.oz.) of compressor oil (ND-8 or equivalent) when using a new condenser. The cooler refrigerant discharge pipe installation requires users to first eliminate vinyl tape before applying compressor oil to a new O-ring before tightening the pipe to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). Apply compressor oil to the air conditioning tube and accessory before torquing them correctly. The hood lock support sub-assembly gets installed at 7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) torque before the other components such as radiator support upper, front bumper assembly (with or without fog light), No. 1 air cleaner inlet (for 2GR-FE), air cleaner inlet assembly (for 2AZ-FE), air cleaner inlet sub-assembly (for 2GR-FE), air cleaner cap sub-assembly (for 2AZ-FE), air cleaner cap sub-assembly (for 2GR-FE), cool air intake duct seal (for 2GR When concluding the service complete the procedure by adding engine coolant to 2AZ-FE and 2GR-FE then inspect for leaks before charging with refrigerant and performing an engine heat-up check and refrigerant leak assessment.
