2007 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you service and repair the rear Suspension Strut Rod on 2007 Toyota Avalon?
A: Service and repair operations on the rear strut rod should start by eliminating the rear wheel. Start by taking off the bolt securing the rear strut rod then separate the parking brake cable before finishing by removing the bolt along with the nut to disconnect the rod from the front side while avoiding nut rotation. First separate the bolt and nut along with the strut rod from the rear axle carrier while taking care to prevent the nut from rotating. The rear strut rod installation process requires you to fix the nut temporarily before inserting the bolt through the inner vehicle opening. Fix the nut when installing the front side strut rod by attaching it to the bolt. Suspend the rear axle carrier with a wooden block for suspension stability before loading it to level out the bolt of suspension arm assembly No. 1 which should rest in a horizontal position at the center of the rear axle hub. Tighten the rear strut rod bolts to 113 N m (1,150 kgf cm, 83 ft. lbf) while maintaining fixed the nut in position during this step. After completing the procedure for the first bolt of the parking brake cable install the component using a 6.0 N m (61 kgf cm, 53 in. lbf) torque. After inspecting rear wheel alignment you must install the rear wheel with 103 N m (1,050 kgf cm, 6 ft. lbf) torque.
