How to Remove and Replace a Rear Seat Belt Assembly on 2007 Toyota Avalon?

The beginning step to remove the rear seat outer belt assembly involves disconnecting the negative battery cable terminal. The process starts with removing the rear seat cushion assembly followed by the rear seat headrest assembly and rear shelf cover cap. After that comes the removal of the rear seatback assembly LH and rear seatback assembly RH. Then follow the rear door scuff plates LH and RH and rear door opening trim Weather Strips LH and RH together with rear seat side garnishes LH and RH. Finally, remove the roof side garnish assemblies inner LH and RH. The package tray trim panel assembly requires first unbolt the rear seat belt assembly outer followed by disconnecting the rear seat inner with center belt assembly RH while removing its nut and disengaging all necessary claws and clips. The bolt must be taken out to remove the rear seat belt assembly outer. When installing it is vital to preserve the assembled retractor state and inspect the retractor angle for less than 15 degrees to allow belt extraction and over 45 degrees to enable belt locking. Put the bolt into the rear seat belt assembly outer before torquing it to a 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) value. Finally attach the package tray trim panel assembly while hooking up the connector along with embracing the claws and inserting the clips. Attach the rear seat inner with center belt assembly RH through the nut to reach a torque level of 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) while making sure the anchor part of the rear belt isolates from the protruding seat adjuster pieces and the arrow faces towards the vehicle's front. A quick belt pull to check the ELR operation should follow the bolted rear seat belt assembly installation; additional assembly replacement is required when the operation fails to meet specifications. Complete installation of roof side garnish assemblies inner LH and RH as well as rear seatback assemblies RH and LH and rear seat cushion assembly. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal to perform initialization before checking the SRS warning light.
