  A: The first step when servicing or repairing the Distance Control ECU requires disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal before waiting 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag deployment. The first step of servicing the Distance Control ECU involves removal of the instrument cluster finish panel garnish No.1 followed by the instrument panel finish plate then the instrument panel sub-assembly along with the instrument panel finish lower panel LH and instrument panel Air Bag assembly lower No.1. The Distance Control ECU assembly needs to be removed once the bolt is unscrewed and the connector is detached. Installation starts with placing the Distance Control ECU assembly and tightening its bolt to 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) before reattaching the connector. Reinstall the instrument panel Air Bag assembly lower No.1 but keep the cable connected to the negative battery terminal before doing system initialization that becomes necessary upon battery disconnection.
