2007 Toyota 4Runner Vapor Canister Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vapor Canister on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Service and repair of the Evaporative Emission Control Canister starts with spare tire removal and disconnecting the charcoal canister No. 2 filter by deeply pushing connector No. 2 into its chamber then pinching Area A to remove it from the canister before removing a bolt connected to the fuel tank filler pipe. The next step includes dismantling the charcoal canister assembly through hose disconnects of fuel tank vent hose from the charcoal canister followed by the canister outlet hose No. 2 and the connector from the pump module and purge line hose from the charcoal canister before unbolting the 3 retaining bolts for removal from the body. The installation procedure requires first torquing the 3 bolts on the charcoal canister assembly to 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) then routing the purge line hose to the canister and the connector to the pump module and the canister outlet hose No. 2 to the charcoal canister and the fuel tank hose to the charcoal canister. The last installation task involves securing the charcoal canister No. 2 filter with a bolt at 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) while you link the canister outlet hose to the fuel tank filler pipe and the canister outlet hose No. 2 to the charcoal canister.
