2007 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair a TPMS Sensor on 2007 Scion tC?
A: The first step for servicing and repairing the Tire Pressure Sensor requires front and rear wheel removal. Service begins with taking out the valve core and cap and letting air escape from the tire so you can remove its valve and transmitter nut and washer to allow them both to drop into place inside the tire. External bead dislodgement with the shoe should proceed with caution to safeguard the valve and transmitter from becoming damaged before one removes the upper bead and retrieves the valve-transmitter combination to check the grommet for any breakage or damage which may require a replacement. The installation process requires the tire pressure warning valve and transmitter to enter the rim hole from its inside direction where the printed surface needs to face outward before inspecting the area for any present foreign material at the valve entry point. Tighten the washer and nut until they reach 4.0 N m (41 kgf cm, 35 in. lbf) torque. Do not tighten further after achieving specification while making sure the installation site remains free of foreign substances and lubricants. Start by placing the wheel disc onto the mounting machine before installing the lower tire bead with proper placement of the valve and transmitter free from interference. Then complete installation by adding the upper bead while preventing any bead clamp. Apply the specified torque to the valve nut after tire inflation then verify that the tire does not leak by using soapy water. Reinstall the front and rear wheels with 103 Nm (1,050 kgf cm) torque and inspect the tire before registering the transmitter ID while testing the tire pressure warning system. Disposal requires the battery removal from the tire pressure warning valve sub-assembly by using a screwdriver to open the back cover while cutting the battery terminals from the base board before proper storage of the battery components. Silicon covers the base board and battery.
