2007 Scion tC Ignition Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ignition switch on 2007 Scion tC?
A: Service of the ignition switch requires disconnecting the negative cable from the battery terminal followed by a minimum ninety second wait before proceeding. Start by taking out the 2 screws which secure the lower cover of the steering column along with its attached cover while properly rotating the steering wheel. Beginning service on the ignition switch assembly requires removal of the ignition switch connector along with disconnecting the unlock warning switch connector and cable tie removal before using a small screwdriver to disconnect the claw fitting while extracting the unlock warning switch connector followed by removing 2 screws and ignition switch with screw and lock stopper. The first step in installation involves screwing in the lock stopper but proceeding with the ignition switch installation using its 2 screws then positioning the claw for the unlock warning switch connector and securing all components with the cable tie. Connect the ignition switch connector to the unlock warning switch connector before you install the steering column cover with its 2 screws while turning the steering wheel if required. After inserting the cable to the negative battery terminal users must complete an initialization process because some devices need this step when reconnecting the cable.
