2007 Scion tC Oxygen Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair an Oxygen Sensor on 2007 Scion tC?
A: The first step for Air Fuel Ratio Sensor maintenance requires users to disconnect the cable from the negative terminal and allow a 90-second timer to circumvent Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The Air Fuel Ratio Sensor for Bank 1 Sensor 1 removal process requires disconnecting its connector followed by using Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 to detach the sensor from the exhaust manifold. Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 enables sensor installation into the exhaust manifold with a required torque of 40 N.m (408 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf) when using the tool at 44 N.m (449 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) when using the tool is optional. The torque wrench should have a 30 cm (11.81 in.) fulcrum length for this process. Connect the sensor connector before you reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal and carry out any required initialization procedure due to system requirements after breaking and reestablishing cable connection. Exhaust gas leaks should be checked as a final step.
