2006 Toyota Tacoma Yaw Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to properly service the Yaw Sensor for optimal performance on 2006 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The servicing procedure for VSC under Yaw Rate and Deceleration Sensor demands first disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the vehicle battery. The service for bench seat types requires separation of the front seat inner belt assemblies(LH and RH), front seat headrest assembly, and front seat assembly and seat track cover. Every cab requires the removal of front door scuff plates in addition to the cowl side trim boards. Start the sensor bracket removal process by elevating the floor carpet then separating the wire harness clamp and lastly unbolting and removing the bracket. The process begins with disconnecting the yaw rate sensor connector and afterward removing two bolts securing the yaw rate sensor. Attach the yaw rate sensor by bolt screws while keeping it at the desired angle before connecting its connector. Put the bracket sensor into position with the bolt before installing the clamp for the wire harness. All cab types require the installation of cowl side trim boards followed by front door scuff plates before the crew or owner cab installation of the front floor footrest and front seat assembly. Secure the cable to the negative battery terminal by tightening it to 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf). The last step includes running a yaw rate sensor zero point calibration while also verifying the VSC sensor signal. The yaw rate sensor requires torque of 12.5 N.m along with 12.5 N.m for the sensor bracket.
