2006 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the front wiper motor on 2006 Toyota Solara?
A: Service of the front wiper motor requires you to start by pulling off the windshield wiper arm cover when you free the claw. Start by detaching the nut from the windshield wiper arm and blade assembly on the left side followed by taking off the similar assembly on the right side. The cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly needs removal using 2 clip extraction and unhooking 12 claws. The procedure requires disconnecting the connector then removing the 4 bolts to remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly. To work with the windshield wiper motor assembly you need a screwdriver to disconnect the rod at the crank arm pivot while wrapping the screwdriver tip with tape to prevent damage before removing the 3 bolts. The first step for installation requires installing the windshield wiper motor assembly using 3 bolts which need 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf) torque before applying MP grease on the crank arm pivot. Then install the rod. Reconnect the connector after you install the windshield wiper motor with link assembly using 4 bolts which should be torqued to 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf). Place the windshield wiper arm and blade assembly RH into the automatic stop position of the motor assembly before cleaning its arm and pivot serrations. Install the assembly with a nut that requires 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) torque while maintaining hand pressure on the arm hinge to fasten the nut. Cleaning concludes with the installation of LH windshield wiper arms and blades using nuts tightened to 20 N.m yet the arm hinge must be held manually to secure the nuts.
