2006 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the knock sensor on 2006 Toyota Solara?
A: Overall service of the knock sensor requires you to drain engine coolant followed by unfastening the air cleaner cap and disconnecting the air cleaner hose. The service begins with the removal of throttle body assembly together with intake manifold by disassembling 5 bolts and 2 nuts from the assembly and the intake manifold gasket. Remove the knock sensor by disconnecting its connector then taking out the retaining nut. The installation of the new knock sensor demands that you fasten its nut to 20 N.m (199 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) while directing the sensor below horizontal position. After connecting the sensor connector position a new gasket and install the intake manifold through the attachment of five bolts and two nuts while torquing them to 30 N.m (306 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf). Install both components of the throttle body assembly along with the air cleaner cap that includes attachment of the air cleaner hose. Finish the procedure by inspecting the vacuum hose connection followed by engine coolant addition and leak detection of engine coolant.
