2006 Toyota Sienna Rack And Pinion Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the rack and pinion power steering gear on 2006 Toyota Sienna?
A: The removal procedure for the rack and pinion power steering rack and pinion starts with checking the center front wheel before removing the front wheel. Necessary for removal is Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 that separates the left tie rod assembly followed by duplicating this process on the right side. Fix the steering wheel with a seat belt while releasing the 3 springs to separate the dust cover for placing matchmarks between the intermediate shaft assembly and power steering rack and pinion assembly. You must remove the bolt in order to split the intermediate shaft assembly. Use the sequence of removing the front stabilizer link assembly beginning with the left followed by the right side while taking out bolts from front stabilizer bracket No.1 on the left. The 3-step process needs repetition to complete on the steerable right side. To disconnect the pressure feed tube assembly both the clip must be removed and the return tube assembly needs to be detached from the power steering rack and pinion assembly while using Special Service Tool: 09023-12701 to finalize the disconnection process. Begin by detaching the bolt before splitting the tube clamp and concluding with the removal of the nut from the clamp. Remove the rack and pinion power steering rack and pinion assembly after you detach its 2 bolts with their corresponding nuts while you avoid harming the pressure tubes.
