2006 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the LH camshaft on 2006 Toyota Sienna?
A: The LH camshaft service begins with coolant draining before removing the front right wheel and the wiper arm head cap and both front wiper arms. Following step one, disconnect the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly, wiper link assembly, No. 1 cowl top to cowl brace inner, cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front, V-bank cover sub-assembly, radiator hose inlet, ignition coil assembly, and the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH. Continue by uninstalling the front fender apron seal on the right side together with No. 1 V belt, vane pump V belt, engine moving control rod, engine mounting stay No. 2 RH, No. 2 generator bracket, crankshaft pulley, timing belt No. 1 and No. 2 covers, engine mounting bracket RH, No. 2 timing belt guide, timing belt, No. 2 timing belt idler sub-assembly, camshaft timing pulley, timing belt No. 3 cover, and No. 3 camshaft sub-assembly while keeping the camshaft at level The exhaust camshaft sub-gear must be bolted to the main gear through a service bolt with 5.4 Nm torque before bearing caps and the No. 3 camshaft are removed when bearing cap bolts are loosened equally. Execute the same procedure for the No. 4 camshaft sub-assembly before removing its oil seal. Beginning with the camshaft sub gear together with the timing gear assembly before installing the No. 4 camshaft sub-assembly the worker must apply new engine oil to the thrust section and journal while placing the camshaft at a 90-degree angle with relation to the timing mark and then install a new oil seal coated in MP grease. Seal Packing (Part No. 08826-00080) must be applied to the No. 1 bearing cap before installing it within 5 minutes under the condition that the bearing cap remains free of engine oil exposure for 2 hours. Install the five bearing caps one after another followed by the tight torque application of ten bearing cap bolts at 16 Nm. The application process of engine oil and timing mark alignment must be completed once again before fitting the bearing caps and securing bolts on the No. 3 camshaft sub-assembly. The mechanic should install the timing belt No. 3 cover before adding the camshaft timing pulley and the No. 2 timing belt idler sub-assembly while checking the timing belt before final installation. Follow the procedure by installing the No. 1 chain tensioner assembly alongside the No. 2 timing belt guide, engine mounting bracket RH, timing belt covers, crankshaft pulley, No. 2 generator bracket, engine mounting stay No. 2 RH, engine moving control rod, and perform valve clearance inspection and adjustment. The final steps encompass the installation of the vane pump V belt along with the No. 1 V belt followed by drive belt deflection and tension inspections before reassembly of the cylinder head cover sub-assembly LH with its ignition coil assembly and V-bank cover sub-assembly and cowl top panel sub-assembly outer front together with the No. 1 cowl top to cowl brace inner and wiper link assembly and both front wiper arms and front right wheel. The addition of coolant must be followed by a search for fluid leaks throughout the engine.
