  A: Service and repair operations for the vacuum brake booster start with taking off the air cleaner case sub-assembly and draining brake fluid while cleaning painted areas that fluid contacts. Remove both brake lines before you take out the ABS and traction actuator unit with its bracket along with the brake master cylinder unit. Rotate the push rod pin retaining clip off the clevis then extract the pin through the vacuum hose disconnect. Begin the process by loosening the push rod clevis lock nut then taking out the push rod clevis. Pull out the brake booster plus gasket once you dismount its 4 nuts and move the booster assembly. After removing the brake booster gasket you can take out the brake vacuum check valve assembly and check valve grommet. Begin the installation by placing both the check valve grommet and brake vacuum check valve assembly before setting and tightening a new booster gasket. Reset the brake master cylinder push rod to its position in the booster and fasten it with 4 nuts to 12.7 Nm of torque (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Use lithium soap base glycol grease on the push rod pin and fit it inside the push rod clevis. Then attach the clip and position everything correctly as depicted in the picture. Check and modify the brake booster push rod settings then link the vacuum hose to the check valve followed by reinstalling all parts including brake master cylinder, ABS actuator system with bracket and brake tubing connectors. Put new fluid into the brake master cylinder reservoir then remove air from all connected brake components. After checking the reservoir levels and brake fluid leaks you must reinstall the air cleaner case sub-assembly only when all tests show positive results.
