2006 Toyota Prius Wheel Stud Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the front Wheel Stud on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: The service process for the front wheel stud starts by taking off the front wheel followed by disconnecting the front disc brake caliper assembly on the left-hand side. The next step requires you to remove the front disc while making alignment matchmarks on the front disc along with the front wheel stud. The service requires attaching two Temporary nuts to any hub studs except the one being replaced while using Special Tool: 09628-10011 and a screwdriver to maintain the front axle position during wheel stud removal. The installation process begins with inserting a new wheel stud through the stud hole while positioning a plate washer together with the nut at the wheel stud end. The technician must use a screwdriver or equivalent to maintain front axle stability during nut tightening before taking out the nut and plate washer followed by the 2 temporary nut removal. It is best to use plate washers that measure at least 5 mm (0.21 inch) in thickness. Proceed with front disc installation while correctly aligning the matchmarks along with front disc brake caliper assembly installation on the left-hand side before putting back the front wheel that requires a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.).
