2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the exhaust pipe on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The exhaust pipe servicing procedure starts with removing the heated oxygen sensor for Bank 2 Sensor 2 after disconnecting its sensor connector and employing Special Service Tool: 09224-00010. Service both heated oxygen sensors by disconnecting their connectors then removing them using Special Service Tool: 09224-00010. The first step involves removing the tailpipe which requires disconnecting a clamp and two rings and a gasket before disconnection from the center exhaust pipe. Start by uninstalling the center exhaust pipe after removing 4 bolts and 4 nuts and 3 rings and the exhaust pipe and then pulling away the 2 gaskets. Unfasten the front No. 2 exhaust pipe by removing two bolts, two nuts and the gasket until the front exhaust pipe LH becomes detached. Begin by removing 3 nuts from the front exhaust pipe RH then taking away the gasket and front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold following the same process with the front exhaust pipe LH. Attach the front exhaust pipe RH to the exhaust manifold with three new nuts that should be torqued to 62 Nm (632 kgf-cm, 46 ft. lbs.) while using a new gasket. Rephrase this procedure for attaching the front exhaust pipe LH. Attach the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the body bracket with the ring before installing a new gasket to connect it with the front exhaust pipe LH through 2 bolts and 2 nuts which need to be torqued to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.). The installation of the center exhaust pipe requires bracket installation with 3 rings followed by the addition of two new gaskets before securing it to the front exhaust pipe RH and front No. 2 exhaust pipe through 4 bolts and 4 nuts which must be torqued to 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.). To install the tailpipe you need 2 rings and a new gasket and new clamp fitted along with the bolt while avoiding reuse of any removed components and torquing to 35 Nm (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft. lbs.). Use Special Service Tool: 09224-00010 to install the Bank 2 Sensor 2 heated oxygen sensor with 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.) torque when not using the tool or 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.) torque with the tool. Then connect its sensor connector. Follow the same operation for installing the heated oxygen sensor on Bank 1 Sensor 2. The last step includes checking for exhaust gas leaks followed by a proper tightening of problem areas to prevent leaks with replacement of damaged components.
