2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Canister Purge Valve on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: You must begin Canister Purge Valve servicing and repair by draining fuel system pressure followed by negative battery terminal cable removal. All service work must finish before 90 seconds passes to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Before proceeding, workers should disconnect the fuel return hose and fuel main hose then drain the engine coolant. Start the repair and servicing process for the Canister Purge Valve by disconnecting the necessary connectors and hoses which include throttle position sensor, control motor, purge VSV, injector connectors, ECT sensor and VSVs for the air injection system from the V-bank cover sub-assembly, intake air connector pipe, and intake manifold assembly. Connectors from the fuel pressure regulator and PCV hose and purge line hose and water by-pass hoses require wire clamps and engine wire protector, ground cables, throttle body cover bracket to be disconnected. You need to eliminate the intake manifold assembly before extracting the vacuum switching valve assembly for ACIS. Partners begin with vacuum switching valve assembly installation; torquing it to 7.5 N.m and following with new gasket application to the intake manifold before securing with 6 bolts and 4 nuts at 18 N.m. Begin by reattaching the throttle body cover bracket and wire bracket followed by cable connection of engine wire and ground cables. Then install water by-pass hoses followed by wire clamps and connect all hoses to the intake manifold before reinstalling necessary connectors. Reconnect the throttle position sensor and VSV as well as purge VSV and injector connectors together with ECT sensor connectors. The procedure ends with the intake air connector pipe and V-bank cover sub-assembly installation and the negative battery terminal cable reconnection. System initialization becomes necessary following battery reinstallation and the engineer should perform both tasks and inspect for coolant leakage and fuel leakage.
