- Q: How to replace the floor shift parking brake cable assembly (A245E) on 2006 Toyota Corolla?A: One must initiate floor shift parking lock cable assembly (A245E) replacement by disconnecting the negative battery terminal while setting the front wheels straight ahead. Lift out the horn button assembly and steering wheel assembly under special service tool: 09950-50013 (includes applicable tools: 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021) as well as the cover from the steering column and console panel upper components with the parking brake hole cover sub-assembly along with the console box carpet and console box sub-assembly rear. The floor shift parking lock cable assembly needs attention by first unfastening the cable end from the lever pin of the floor shift assembly while employing a screwdriver to separate the parking lock cable from the floor shift assembly (tape up the screwdriver tip for safety) after detaching the cable clamp then patting the upper bracket while keeping track of the physical wire harness arrangement. To install the cable mount the bracket with identical physical arrangement and connect the clamp followed by setting the accessory tool (parts NO.: 33693-02010) into the N position when the ignition switch is set to acc or on. Use a screwdriver taped around the end for its claw to release the automatic adjustment piece locks then place the slide cap through the hole and mount it before inserting the cable end pin through its hole while ensuring loose claws remain secure. Lock the lock key into place when the shift lever sits in the N position and the ignition key has acc or on status before taking out the accessory tool. Reinstallation of the steering wheel assembly should be followed by a verification of wheel center point position while technicians also install the horn button assembly. Inspecting the srs warning light and performing a key interlock operation complete the procedure.
