- Q: How to replace the floor shift parking brake cable assy (A245E) on 2005 Toyota Corolla?A: You can start floor shift parking lock cable assy (A245E) replacement after disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery and aligning the front wheels directly forward. The service requires disassembly of the horn button assembly followed by steering wheel assembly! Special service tool: 09950-50013 (with attachments 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021) is needed. Further disassembly includes steering column cover, console panel upper, parking brake hole cover sub-assembly, console box carpet, and console box sub-assembly rear. Removing the floor shift parking lock cable assembly requires users to detach its cable end from the lever pin of the floor shift assembly before using a taped screwdriver to disconnect the parking lock cable from the floor shift assembly followed by disconnecting the cable clamp followed by turning the ignition switch to ACC or ON then removing the cable from the upper bracket while observing the connector and wire harness physical relationship. Before installing the new cable users should turn the ignition switch to ACC or ON position, place the cable on the upper bracket maintaining previous physical alignment, connect the cable clamp, operate the accessory tool through a sequence starting with placing the shift lever to N position followed by turning the ignition to ACC or ON and setting the tool onto the shift lock control unit assembly (accessory tool parts No.: 33693-02010). First use a tape-wrapped screwdriver to unlock the lock key of the automatic adjustment part then slide in the cap and afterward feed the lever pin into the cable end until the claws lock securely while keeping the shift lever at N position and ignition key set to ACC or ON. Complete the procedure by uninstalling the accessory tool then replace the steering wheel assembly followed by its center point examination and horn button installation and SRS warning light and key interlock operational tests.
