2006 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2006 Toyota Avalon?
A: The first step to replace the cooler condenser assembly requires use of Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) to discharge refrigerant from the refrigeration system. After removing air cleaner inlet No.2 along with No.1 you must disconnect the hood lock assembly while taking off the radiator support upper. Disconnect the cooler refrigerant discharge hose No.1 by removing its bolt and O-ring and then use vinyl tape to seal both ends and block moisture and foreign substances from entering. The air conditioner tube and accessory require removal of the bolt while using vinyl tape to seal off opened areas. The cooler condenser assembly can be removed after unbolted 4 components. Install the new cooler condenser assembly through the 4 bolts while securely torquing them to 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf). Move the vinyl tape from the air conditioner tube and accessory before applying compressor oil (ND-OIL 8 or equivalent) to a new O-ring and fitting surface. Install the O-ring and attach the air conditioner tube and accessory to the cooler condenser assembly using the bolt while torquing it to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). For cooler refrigerant discharge hose No.1 follow the same sequence while applying compressor oil to the new O-ring before installation and torque to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). Charging begins after reinstalling the radiator support upper and hood lock assembly while using Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 or equivalents to input 450 to 550 grams (15.9 to 19.4 ounces). The last step involves heating the engine to check for refrigerant leaks.
