2006 Scion xB Ignition Coil Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the ignition coil on 2006 Scion xB?
A: A proper ignition coil service requires a 90-second wait time with disconnected negative battery cable to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The following procedure involves the removal of the No. 2 cylinder head cover through bolt removal of its four cap nuts along with the head cover itself. The service begins with disconnecting 4 ignition coil connectors followed by the removal of 4 bolts for separating the 4 ignition coils from their housing. Begin installing by placing four ignition coils onto their bolts then secure all with 9.0 N.m torque force of 90 kgf.cm or 80 in.lbf before fastening the 4 ignition coil connectors. The No. 2 cylinder head cover must be installed with the 4 cap nuts at 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.l.f.) torque. End the procedure by hooking the cable to the negative section of the battery.
