  A: Service of the Evaporative Emission Control Canister requires a 90-second wait along with negative battery terminal cable disconnect to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Begin by unplugging the connector and removing the two attached clamps from the canister and continuing with the tube and hose release by using a screwdriver to lift the retainer (without removing it) before separating the purge line hose and air inlet line tube and vent line tube from the canister. The last step involves the removal of the 3 canister securing bolts. Secure the canister with its 3 bolts using a torque of 19 N.m before linking the 2 tubes and hose for which you must first install the air inlet line tube followed by the vent line tube and purge line hose (put the retainer in after hose installation). Reconnect the connector before attaching the 2 clamps for cable connection to the negative battery terminal.
