The first step for windshield wiper switch assembly replacement requires disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal then waiting 90 seconds before the Air Bag deploys. After disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal let it be for at least 90 seconds and remove both the lower and upper steering column covers. Separate the two connectors from the windshield wiper switch assembly while using a screwdriver with tape on it to release the claw. Remove the assembly at a gentle touch to protect the claw from breaking. The new windshield wiper switch assembly needs installation by connecting its two connectors after engaging the claw. Reattach the cable to the negative battery terminal while tightening it to a torque of 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) before replacing the steering column covers in their proper positions.
