2005 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel tank on 2005 Toyota Solara?
A: The procedure for fuel tank replacement starts by draining system pressure and continuing with rear seat cushion removal and service hole cover unfastening. Disassemble the fuel pump tube sub-assembly after removing the fuel tank vent tube set plate to proceed with taking out the fuel suction tube assembly with pump and gauge. The exhaust pipe assembly center must be separated by uninstalling two bolts along with four nuts followed by removing the exhaust pipe and two gaskets. Remove the fuel tank protector lower center by disconnecting parking brake cable assembly No. 2 and No. 3 through their set bolts and nuts before removing the 4 bolts from the protector assembly. The process to detach the fuel tank assembly requires disconnecting the fuel pump tube through retainer tab pinching which frees the lock claws and allows the main tube to be pulled out while maintaining protective measures for the connector. The technician begins by pinching disconnecting Fuel tube No. 1 connector then establishes a transmission jack placement below the fuel tank to remove the fuel tank's 2 band bolts. The technician then disconnects the fuel tank to filler pipe hose followed by detaching the vent hose from the charcoal canister through deep connector push action. Install the removal process starting with the fuel tank followed by unplug both pins and remove the 2 fuel tank bands and 4 clip nuts. The technician should detach the fuel tank vent hose together with the fuel pump tube sub-assembly and fuel main tube support. Install 7 new fuel tank cushions to the tank followed by the fuel main tube support application of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) torque. Position and connect the fuel tank assembly by installing 4 clip nuts, attaching the 2 fuel tank bands with their respective 2 pins then join the fuel tank vent hose before securing the fuel tank inlet pipe to the fuel filler pipe clamp and finally tightening the set 2 fuel tank band bolts to 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf). To connect fuel tube No. 1 locate its connector until it snaps in place while inspecting for damage alongside exclusion of foreign substances and attach the fuel pump tube by pushing its connector before securing its retainer. First install the lower center fuel tank protector with 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) torque and then proceed to install parking brake cable assemblies No. 3 and No. 2 at the same torque value of 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Insert the exhaust pipe assembly center while using new gaskets with two bolts and four new nuts before torquing them to 56 N.m (571 kgf.cm, 41 ft.lbf). You need to proceed with the fuel suction tube installation which includes the pump and gauge and add the fuel tank vent tube plate before connecting the fuel pump tube assembly followed by leak checks of fuel and exhaust gas and finishing with rear floor service hole and rear seat cushion replacement along with the rear floor panel brace reinstallation.
