2005 Toyota Sequoia Knock Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the knock sensor on 2005 Toyota Sequoia?
A: A visor with two manifolds and an air connector requires removal before servicing knock sensors. Check the resistance between knock sensor terminals using an ohmmeter after disconnected connector wires because proper measurement should fall between 120 to 280 kOhm at ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). The sensor needs replacement when the resistance reading rests outside of this specified range. The installation process starts by disconnecting the two knock sensor connectors followed by removing the two nuts which enables appropriate removal of the two knock sensors. Sensors can be installed with the two nuts according to 20 N.m torque requirements (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) followed by connecting the two knock sensor connectors. To complete the repair process reinstall the throttle body cover together with the intake air connector as well as the intake manifold assembly.
