Begin the process of front strut assembly overhaul by first removing the front wheel and disconnecting the front stabilizer link assembly LH through removal of the nut and applying a hexagonal (6 mm) wrench to maintain stability of the stud when the ball joint turns with the nut. Disconnect the front flexible hose by removing the bolt to detach both front flexible hose No. 1 and speed sensor front LH when ABS is present otherwise just disconnect the front flexible hose if ABS is not installed. Extract the front shock absorber with coil spring by detaching the 2 lower bolts and nuts and the 3 upper nuts from the shock absorber assembly front LH and then pull out the assembly piece. Affix the front shock absorber through the vise by securing it with a bracket at the lower side using 2 nuts and a bolt. Compress then extend the shock absorber rod of the front LH assembly for inspection to detect abnormal resistance or odd sounds before conducting a replacement if problems exist. The installation process of the shock absorber assembly front LH requires positioning the front coil spring insulator lower LH onto the shock absorber assembly then connecting the front spring bumper LH to the shock absorber piston rod before compressing the front coil spring LH using the Special Service Tool. Push the lower end of the front coil spring LH into the gap of the spring lower seat before installing the front coil spring insulator upper LH along with the front coil spring seat upper LH which should have the mark facing outward from the vehicle. Reinstall the front suspension support LH dust seal along with the front suspension support sub-assembly LH while using Special Service Tool: 09729-22031 to apply pressure on the front coil spring seat upper LH during new nut installation and torque it to 47 Nm (479 kgf-cm, 35 ft. lbs.). First replace the Special Service Tool before installing the front suspension support dust cover LH on the assembly. After that apply MP grease No.2 to the sub-assembly LH while taking care to keep it off the upper support rubber surface. The shock absorber requires installation with 2 bolts and 3 nuts according to the torque specifications of 39 Nm (398 kgf-cm, 29 ft. lbs.) and 220 Nm (2,243 kgf-cm, 162 ft. lbs.). Torque each part except the bolt by stopping it from rotating during tightening. The front flexible hose receives a torque of 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.) if ABS is present or without ABS the front flexible hose gets installed independently followed by installing the front stabilizer link assembly LH with the nut that gets torqued to 74 Nm (755 kgf-cm, 55 ft. lbs.) through the use of a hexagon wrench (6 mm) to prevent stud movement. After reattaching the front wheel the technician should torque it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) and perform inspection and adjustment of the wheel alignment.
