The process to remove the rear shock absorber begins by dismounting the rear wheel then removing deck board No. 2 before proceeding to remove the deck board sub-assembly and deck floor box rear followed by the luggage compartment tray. You must start by removing the shock absorber head cover before securely putting the rear axle beam assembly on a jack. The two nuts and bolt need removal after which you should detach the nut, rear shock absorber LH cushion retainer, and the rear shock absorber with coil spring. Special Service Tool: 09727-30021 needs to be used for compressing the coil spring when it is essential to not employ an impact wrench to protect the tool. Start by holding the piston rod with a 6 mm hexagon wrench before removing the nut. Then remove the rear shock absorber cushion washer No. 1 along with the rear suspension support, rear spring front bracket sub-assembly LH, LH support assembly rear suspension, rear coil spring insulator upper LH, rear spring bumper No. 1 LH and coil spring rear LH.

Torque it to 47 Nm (479 kgf-cm, 35 ft. lbs.).

Use Special Service Tool: 09727-30021 to compress the coil spring rear LH, ensuring not to use an impact wrench to avoid damaging the tool.

Install the rear shock absorber with coil spring, securing it with two nuts and a bolt, and torque to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.).

Fully extend the rod and drill a hole in the cylinder to discharge the gas, taking care to avoid flying fragments, as the discharged gas is colorless, odorless, and non-poisonous.

The gas is colorless, odorless, and non-poisonous.
