2005 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel injector on 2005 Toyota Matrix?
A: Before replacing the fuel injector start by discharging fuel system pressure followed by disconnecting the battery negative terminal. Begin the replacement by removing both clips and two nuts from cylinder head cover No. 2. The ventilation hose needs to be detached from the cylinder head cover. You must start by detaching the 4 fuel injector connectors followed by the removal of the 3 wire harness clamps from clamp brackets and then the fuel pipe clamp No. 1 before removing the fuel tube. Pinch the retainer of the fuel tube connector to remove it and check that no debris exists before discarding the nylon tube except through manual handling. Proceed to remove the fuel delivery pipe along with its fuel injectors while being cautious not to drop them and then discard the 2 delivery pipe spacers and 4 insulators from the cylinder head. Place gasoline or spindle oil on each new fuel injector O-ring and fuel delivery pipe contact sites before inserting the injectors onto the pipe while verifying the O-ring remains free of damage or misalignment. The fuel injectors should easily rotate with no issues; a new O-ring is required for replacement. Secure 4 new insulators into the cylinder head following proper orientation while placing 2 delivery pipe No. 1 spacers correctly before installing the fuel delivery pipe with 4 fuel injectors and tightening its 3 bolts temporarily. Verify the injectors rotate without issue before securing the bolts at 19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) for bolt A while preserving 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf) for bolt B. Complete the connection of the fuel tube through the proper alignment before attempting any clamping that prevents scratches or foreign matter. The maintenance process requires installation of fuel pipe clamp No. 1 followed by wire harness clamps and the reattachment of the 4 fuel injector connectors. Before finishing, set the ventilation hose to the cylinder head cover while keeping the clamp at the proper angle and torque the battery negative terminal to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf). Before completing the process cement the fuel lines by checking for leakage while screwing and connecting the 2 nuts with 2 clips on cylinder head cover Number 2 by tightening them to 7.0 N.m (70 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf).
