2005 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the steering angle sensor on 2005 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step includes observing restraint system service cautions before separating the battery negative terminal. The front wheels must be aligned straight ahead and then the mechanic can remove the horn button assembly together with the steering wheel assembly by using Special Service Tool: 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021). You should begin by removing the steering column cover and the spiral cable sub-assembly followed by the steering sensor when you disconnect all its 6 claw fittings. Connect the new steering sensor onto the spiral cable by placing it properly without crumbling the claw fittings. Reinstall the spiral cable sub-assembly to the center front wheel before aligning the cable in its center position. Place the horn button assembly as well as the steering wheel assembly before visually inspecting both components at their center points. Complete the SRS warning light check by reconnecting the battery negative terminal.
